Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 1/2 cups plain Greek yogurt or more as needed

Toppings

  • egg wash
  • everything bagel seasoning

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt. Mix with a spoon until the dough starts to come together.
  • If the dough is too dry, gradually add more Greek yogurt, a couple of tablespoons, until the dough is soft and pliable.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead it for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Divide the dough into 6-8 equal portions.
  • Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it slightly. Use your thumb to make a hole in the center, shaping it into a classic bagel shape.
  • Crack the egg into a small bowl and beat it lightly. Arrange the shaped bagels on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they're spaced apart so they don't stick together while baking. Use a pastry brush to lightly coat the top and sides of each bagel with the beaten egg. This will give them a nice shine and help the seasoning stick. Sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning generously over the bagels.
  • Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the bagels are golden brown.
  • Allow the bagels to cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

Air Fryer Instructions: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) if it requires preheating. Place bagels in the air fryer basket, ensuring they're not touching. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you might need to cook them in batches.
